A consistent Dean’s Lister, he took his MBA at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.  George has expertise in business assurance, consulting and tax.

He is the senior partner of the firm Villaruz, Villaruz & Co., CPAs which has a varied client base that includes investment and financing, construction, computer software, manufacturing, project management and consultancy, regional headquarters and representative office, manpower training and recruitment, among others.

Mr. Villaruz was awarded the Leadership Award by the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice (ACPAPP) for his exemplary leadership as 2016 ACPAPP President. He was also given the Leadership Award by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountant (PICPA) Metro Manila Region during the 2006 Accountancy Week Celebration for his extraordinary dedication for the profession of Accountancy as 2005-2006 Chair of the region, Award of Distinction as Treasurer and Member of the National Board of Directors for 2005-2006 and Award of Distinction as Member Committee on Accountancy Week Celebration given by the PICPA National President. In 2008, PICPA conferred to him the Outstanding PICPA Member Award in recognition of his long and selfless loyalty and exemplary of cooperation in serving the interest of PICPA: for his participation in its affairs and his dedication and steadfast devotion to duty in various positions and responsibilities entrusted him by the organization, thus enhancing the prestige of the Institute and the accounting profession.

In 2004, he was also given the Leadership Award by PICPA Metro Manila Region as the 2003 PICPA Eastern Metro Manila Chapter President. As an active volunteer of Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC), his work was recognized after having evaluated 10 organizations in 2003 and at least 40 NGOs to date. He continues to render volunteer work with PCNC.

Earlier in 2003, under his presidency, the PICPA Eastern Metro Manila Chapter was also awarded the Most Outstanding Chapter Award.

He sat in the 2005-2006 PICPA National Board of Directors representing the Metro Manila Region (MMR) and also held the position of National Treasurer. George was also the 2005-2006 Chairman of the PICPA MMR. Continuing the legacy of his predecessor, under his term, the PICPA MMR was awarded as the Most Outstanding Region and was elevated to the Region Hall of Fame Award in 2005.

In July 2007, the University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) Iloilo conferred to him the Outstanding Professional Alumni Award for Business Administration. In 2008, he was awarded by PICPA as Outstanding Member of Metro Manila Region and in 2012, the Honorary Life Member Award.

For the years 2010 and 2011, he was a director of the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice (ACPAPP), Chair-Technical Session Committee, 2013 ACPAPP National Convention and Chair ACPAPP 2014 Annual National Convention.  A Founding Member of ACPAPP Foundation in 2002, he served as trustee for the years 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2013. He was also a trustee of PICPA Foundation from FY 2005-2006, 2008, 2012 and 2013.  He continued to serve PICPA as Chair-Accountancy Week Celebration (AWC) Committee for FY 2011-2012 and Chair-Induction Committee for FY 2013-2014.

He is the 2017 ACPAPP Foundation, Inc. President, 2016 President of the Association of CPAs in Public Practice. He sits as member of Auditing and Assurance Standards Council (AASC) and PICPA Long Range Planning Board for a 3 year term (2016-2018).

He is also a Board of Trustee of University of the Philippines Visayas Foundation Inc. and Chair-Audit Committee from 2009 to the present and a member of the Council of Elders of Buklod ng Pag-ibig Foundation Inc. from November 2008 to the present and became the Presiding Elder in 2014 to the present. He was elected as Board of Trustee of the Federation of Transparochial Catholic Charismatic Communities (FTCCC). He is a member of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) from 2013 to the present.
